The SCHOOL BEGINS
The Batesville school operated from 1973 to 1976. At that time the church was located south of Batesville in Southside. The school was located just behind the church on Highway 167 (Rucker, 1973). A school was again operated from 1983 to 1988, and a third time from 1999 to 2000. These last two met in the basement of the church building located on Gap Road northeast of Batesville, and had one teacher and about seven students.
