MARVIN GUNTER JR., a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born December 20, 1925, in Tampa, Florida, a son of Marvin L. Gunter Sr. and Norma (Crithfield) Gunter. He departed this life Thursday, May 24, 2007, in Berryville, at the age of 81.
Mr. Gunter was an elementary school teacher, then became a librarian and a professor at Southwestern Adventist University for the last 15 years before he retired. He loved history and after retirement, he was a tour guide at the old Carroll County Courthouse Museum in Berryville, Arkansas. He was also the head elder of the Berryville Seventh Day Adventist Church. On June 1, 1952, he was united in marriage with Betty Louise Hopkins who survives him of the home. He is also survived by one son, David Lloyd Gunter of Arkansas, three daughters, Kathleen Louise and her husband David Bruce Harriss of California, Karen Joyce and her husband Paul Randolph Owens of Amity, Arkansas, and Rebecca Carol and her husband Stephen Winfred Burton of Shreveport, Louisiana, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
