Lafayette Seventh-day Adventist School

The School Begins

The Lafayette members built a new church in 1976 on Rena Drive. One classroom was included in the structure. The school opened for the 1976-1977 school year with eighteen students. Due to lack of funds, they had to close by January 1, 1985 (Files, n.d.). The Lafayette school opened again for the 1990-1991 school year. Several families began to move away from the area for economic reasons and when there was only one prospective student, the school closed at the end of the 1991-1992 (Minutes, 1992).
