Texarkana Black Church Organized in 1931

Elder T. H. Coopwood in 1937 (Record, 2001).

A tent effort held in Texarkana by black ministers, Elder T. H. Coopwood and O. J. Trotter lasted most of the summer of 1931, with six hundred to one thousand attending each night. When the meetings ended, they organized a church of forty-four members. Property consisting of three lots and a brick school building was purchased as a meeting place for the new believers (Montgomery, 1932).
