West Helena Pathfinder Club

West Helena Pathfinder Club Organized in 1997

Nine young people joined the West Helena Flyers Pathfinder Club in 1997, under the leadership of Marjorie Babcock and Lurean Carter. The club’s first outing was the honors festival in Little Rock in October. Lurean Carter, deputy director, was excited about the new club because it reminded her of how she joined the Adventist Church. In 1986 Carter was a Baptist Christian when her four youngest children attended a vacation Bible school at the Calvin Center Adventist Church. Soon the children began attending church, were baptized, then joined the Pathfinder club. Carter became involved in her children’s club activities and soon began taking Bible studies herself. She was then baptized into the Adventist Church and has been active in ministry for young people ever since (Johnson, 1998).

Some of the charter members of the West Helena Pathfinder/Adventurer club are, from left: Nancy Babcock, Willie Babcock, Lurean Carter, Marilyn Johnson, Marjorie Babcock, Kenny Babcock and Wayne Babcock.
