Alexandria Black Church Organized in 1936
During the summer of 1936 Elder T. H. Coopwood held meetings for the black people of Alexandria, with a nightly attendance between 250 to 500. On November 28, 1936, the Alexandria black SDA church was organized with forty-two baptized members (Coopwood, 1936b) and thirty-three more who wanted to become members. The church was able to secure an adequate place to worship (Coopwood, 1936a).
